HERE IS A CRAFT GAME IDEA THAT
BRINGS PEOPLE TO YOUR CRAFT FAIR TABLE!

You can make this ancient, public domain game using a wide variety of materials.  This game is a good craft product idea that is simple to construct.  Your own imagination is the only limit here, as far as size, materials to use, pricing, etc.  You could make ornate, upscale pewter casted games, or simple ones made from tongue depressors, like the one shown below.

Here is another idea…  Make a up batch of these games to bring to your next craft show. Put up a sign saying:
IF YOU CAN FIGURE THIS OUT,
AND SHOW ME HOW YOU DID IT,
YOU CAN HAVE ONE FOR FREE!

You will have a crowd at your table. (And, the crowd will see your other crafts, too).  Many people will give up and gladly buy the game just to know how to do it. -That's been my experience, anyway.  And here is what the game looks like:

The object of this game is to move the ring to the big loop on the other side, without undoing or cutting the cord.  This is possible, and here is how to do it:

Pull the center loop down, and slide the ring into the area of the center loop.

Now comes the tricky step… Stuff all the loops through the center hole, from the back.  Make sure you get all the loops through.  Then, slide the ring into the center loop.  You may have to practice this step a few times, until it makes sense to you.  This is the step where the ring actually starts moving toward the other side.

Next, move the ring to the other side.

Now stuff all the loops back through the center hole, from the front this time.

The ring is now on the other side, and could be moved back the same way.

HERE ARE SOME CONSTRUCTION TIPS:

Put a colored mark, or your craft business logo, on one side, so that there is an easy way to see if you have moved the ring to the other side.  Putting your business logo there makes this game a business card as well as a product.  A silkscreen or rubber stamp would work well.
A steel flat washer from the hardware store makes a good ring.
Heavy fishing line, plumbers line, etc. makes a good cord.
Painting fishing line makes it smoother and prevents fraying.
Bright red is a good attention-grabbing color to paint the game.
Glue the knots so that no one will untie them.
